What Are We Learning?This is for the upcoming unit: ***No More Spelling Test *** Literacy: Phonics: /er/ spelled er, or, ear, ir, ur, and ure Spelling: Students now will just need to practice reading pattern words fluently and practice spelling the class spelling words for spelling test. They will still also have their individualized memory words. Class Memory Words (some of these words will be on the test) Thursday, birthday, purple, pitcher, picture, world, learn, early, third, creature, earth, first Individualized Memory Words: These are different for each student. 1st Grade Math: We have finished the Investigations Curriculum this year for 1st grade. The following will be 2nd grade Investigations they will be working on for the remainder of the year.
Unit Focus:
Science: Students are starting their new Unit on Earth Materials and their properties. Students are choosing one earth material to do more research on and write a research paper. Passion Projects End of Year Celebration
Next Friday the 26th students will have a special guest come as part of our End of Year Passion Projects celebrations. Students will also have a chance for classmates to sign yearbooks. End of Year Party It’s May already and almost the end of the school year. It’s so hard to believe! In celebration of a great year, Ms. Horton is planning to have an End of Year Party on Tuesday, May 30th from 9:30-10:30. This will be a breakfast celebration where Ms. Horton will be giving awards. Parents are invited to attend. We won’t be playing games this time, but the kids will have a chance to make a memory craft before or after the awards ceremony. We need your help in contributing some supplies for the breakfast. We will also need some volunteers to help with set up. Please sign up by Wednesday, May 24. Parents please feel free to join! We will be at the park 10:30-1:00. Sprinkler Party The date is set! Our class earned a Sprinkler Party for returning 100% of our surveys! Our sprinkler party will be on Tuesday, May 30th at 3. Please have your child bring a change of clothes if they are going to be going to an after school program. Moving Up Day Time for your child to get an hour to experience what their school year may be like next year.
